Q: What is home staging?
A: The purpose of staging is to create spaces that instantly appeal to home-buyers, leaving a lasting impression and evoke the feeling that "I can see myself living here". To do this successfully, rooms need to be inviting, warm and relatively neutral but without compromising on style and character.
Creating the right first impression is crucial in maximizing the value for your home. A staged interior is visually attractive, clutter free and well maintained. This does not mean your home should lose it's personality and become sterile. Enhancing a home s architectural features and character all add to the perceived value of your property. Staging plays up the positives and detracts form the negatives.
Q: Why stage a home to sell?
A: Ask any Realtor and they will tell you that the housing market, locally, is extremely sophisticated and very competitive. Homeowners recognize the need to maximize value and to present their homes ahead of the competition. Staging makes a lot of sense for a number of reasons:
You will make more money and reduce the days on the market - U.S. research (based on surveys of real-estate agents) states that home staging can reduce a listing's time on the market by one third to half, and could fetch as much as 10-15% more than an empty home or a home not properly staged.
Staging creates a visual frame of reference - Only around 10% of home-buyers can actually visualize the potential of a home. Staging fills the imagination gap and takes away the guesswork.
Presentation brings in the buyers - Over 85% of home-buyers search on-line before visiting a house. Creating the right first impression is critical in getting potential buyers through your front door.
Objectivity - As homeowners, we cannot view our homes objectively. A professional stager can effectively create an environment that has broad appeal by seeing your home through the buyer's eyes.
Q: What does home staging do for prospective buyers?
A: Home staging creates the perception of an impressive and successful lifestyle. In some homes, staging may eliminate variables and any possible negatives, such as out-of-date fixtures; limited outdoor areas; smaller bedrooms, etc. Home shoppers are drawn into the emotion of the design and feel a connection – one not possible in empty or ineffectively designed homes.
Q: Is Home Staging cost-prohibitive?
A: Home staging fees certainly vary from home to home, however we pride ourselves on the most competitive staging pricing in the Coachella Valley. Some homes may require a full staging project, while other homes may only require main living areas and master bedroom. We can give you a better idea when presented with specifics.
Q: What is included in Home Staging?
A: Each home is unique and has its own needs. We have no limits of what we can supply. In fact, we are happy to locate and implement special objects as per your request.
Q: How long does it take?
A: An initial complimentary meeting is necessary to provide an accurate fee quote and takes less than one-half hour. Once the terms are agreed upon by House & Homes Palm Springs and the homeowner, approximately five business days are needed to complete the enhancement, depending on availability
Q: How long does the Staging stay in place?
A: Our standard agreements are for a minimum 2-month period for which there is a fixed fee. If you wish to carry on staging beyond the 2 months, our agreements renew on a month to month basis.
Q: Can I live in my home while it's staged?
A: The purpose of staging is to create an idealized environment.
How we live on a day-to-day basis and how a home need to present for sale, are unfortunately at odds with each other. If you are able to find alternative accommodation whilst your house is on the market, we strongly recommend it.
Where we have provided a fully staged property we do not allow the use of any of our assets.
Q: Are any of the furnishings or accessories for sale?
A: Yes! If we are staging your home, any of the items we own are for sale. Please contact us if you have a particular piece in mind.
